On The MOVE

This week on Sprouts, we revisit an interview with members of MOVE, the Philadelphia-based black liberation group. MOVE was in the news this month when one of its members, Debbie Africa, was granted parole after 40 years in prison.

MOVE was a communally organized group that followed a revolutionary political philosophy. In 1978, a police shootout at a MOVE compound resulted in the death of a police officer. Debbie Africa, was one of 9 MOVE members who were convicted of murder and were given life sentences.
