Pentacostal Snake-Handling and Interfaith Twins

They Shall Take Up Serpents

In this award-winning documentary from the early 90s, we explore two deeply misunderstood rituals in the Pentecostal tradition: handling snakes and drinking strychnine. The practice stems from a line in the book of Mark: “They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them.”

Twin Sisters, Two Faiths

On the surface, identical twins Elizabeth and Caroline lead very similar lives. Both live in London, both are married, both have sons and both are expecting daughters. But there’s one major difference – Elizabeth is Muslim and Caroline is Christian. In 2009, producer Anna Scott-Brown spoke with the twins in this award-winning documentary about coming to terms with their different beliefs as their mother faced the end of life.
