Permaculture in Action

Permaculture is a design philosophy which seeks to emulate nature’s patterns and process. Permaculture students are at the forefront of designing the new systems which will harmoniously restore the planet and humans’ relationships with life around us. Two such projects are profiled in this program.

Bruce-Ruhl Design is a startup permaculture design firm in Spokane, WA whose ambitious first project is the Spokane Oasis Market Garden, a self sustaining micro-ecosystem atop the Spokane Public Market.

The Human Habitat Project is a mission undertaken by Kyle Chamberlain on his land in Northeast Washington State: to experiment with and cultivate an ideal habitat for humans in his bioregion.

Both interviews explore the motivations of these young people creating change in their communities and systems-level models for a new way of life.
