Puppies On Parole with George Lombardi

Host Jessica Thomas talks with George Lombardi, Director of the Department of Corrections for Missouri about the Puppies On Parole program he has instituted across the correctional institutions in Missouri. This program has been developed as a way of saving dogs that would otherwise be euthenized and training them to be loving pets and service dogs for those in need of assistance. This program also give inmates training that can be used when released and has made the institutions safer and inmates calmer.

On the second half of our show host, Margot Patterson interviews Josh Ruebner about his work as national advocacy director of the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation and his new book “Shattered Hopes: Obama’s Failure to Broker Israeli-Palestinian Peace.” Ruebner works to end United States military aid to Israel and on other policy initiatives. He co-founded Jews for Peace in Palestine and Israel in 2000, which has since merged with Jewish Voice for Peace. Ruebner is a former Analyst in Middle East Affairs at Congressional Research Service, a federal government agency providing Members of Congress with policy analysis.as national advocacy director of the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation.

Billy Moore,who spent time on death row in Georgia, and whose sentence was commuted to life after the victim’s family members advocated for him not to be executed, will be the Speaker at the Missourians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty meeting, at 6:30PM, Tuesday March 4th, at All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church 4501 Walnut, KCMO.
