Queering History – a play about LGBTQ issues in schools

This week Sprouts presents OutCasting, LGBTQ youth radio, this week featuring an abridged reading of the play, “Queering History,” written by Maggie Keenan-Bolger with homeless LGBTQ youth, about the effects of LGBTQ history not being taught in schools. Coincidentally, three years ago, on July 14, 2011, the Fair, Accurate, Inclusive, and Respectful (FAIR) Act was signed into law in California, ending the exclusion of LGBTQ history in California schools. On an earlier edition of OutCasting, we spoke about the law with its sponsor, Cal. State Sen. Mark Leno (online at mfpg.org or outcastingmedia.org).

“Queering History” was written by Maggie Keenan-Bolger with homeless LGBTQ youth. This program was produced by OutCasting youth participants Lester, Nicole, Sydney, Travis, and Josh.
