Americanafest 2016 Roadtrip and Sara Morgan

It’s that time of year when Diana Linn saddles up and takes off for a week in Nashville to run the daily marathon that is the Americana Music Association Conference and Festival aka Americanafest. This year’s Americanafest Awards Show Lineup at The Ryman Auditorium includes appearances by true icons in American music like George Strait, Emmylou Harris, Dwight Yoakam and Alison Kraus along the up and comers like Margo Price and Nathaniel Ratcliffe.  The AMA’s Executive Director, Jed Hilly, says if you can hear the dirt in your ears, it’s Americana music. From their website:   “Americana is contemporary music that incorporates elements of various American roots music styles, including country, roots-rock, folk, bluegrass, R&B and blues, resulting in a distinctive roots-oriented sound that lives in a world apart from the pure forms of the genres upon which it may draw. While acoustic instruments are often present and vital, Americana also often uses a full electric band.”

You’ll hear from all of these great artists and a set dedicated to Sky Smeed and Truckstop Honeymoon who will be joining Steve Poltz in a show coming to Lawrence, KS September 24 at The Bottleneck.   Oh, and local songwriter Sara Morgan aka Grasshopper, will be live in the studio.  Follow the links for the 411….
