Saudi Arabia’s government represses women, permits no civil society activity, and is bombing the hell out of Yemen, so why is the US government still defending them and selling them massive amounts of arms? Speakers: Saudi journalist Ebtihal Mubarak opened the Women in Saudi Arabia panel at the May 2016 Summit on Saudi Arabia: Understanding the Kingdom and Its Global Role. She now lives in the US and writes for Foreign Policy. Medea Benjamin is co-founder of the women’s peace organization CODEPINK and author of 8 books including Kingdom of the Unjust: Behind the US-Saudi Connection.
