“The Tasty Brew” is an eclectic mix of roots music formed by the shared and varied traditions that make up the American musical melting pot.
Diana Linn was inspired by a set of music Rodney Crowell played as a Guest DJ on satellite radio this past weekend…songs he described as having sounds of gravitas. Light bulb moment for an idea for an entireTasty Brew Music Show. Gravitas – a noun expressing dignity, seriousness, or solemnity of manner. This week’s playlist will attempt to describe – portray – illustrate gravitas in song by the best purveyors of Americana Roots Music – folks like John Prine (in Kansas City this week at the Arvest Bank Midland Theater), Rodney Crowell, Patty Griffin, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Jason Eady, Courtney Patton, Sunny Sweeney, Sara Morgan, Rihannon Giddens, Verlon Thompson, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Goodman and Chubby Knuckle Choir.
