Tibet Connection, a former Sprouts staple, may have ended, but problems for Tibetans continue. This week, some stories the Tibet Connection produced to spread understanding about Tibetans, during the past few years.

CHINESE MINING in TIBET: After Mati Bernabei visited Tibet in 1988, she returned to her native Canada and began trying to persuade mining companies not to invest in the Tibetan plateau. Her success has been surprising, but as she admits, the experience has made her a different kind of activist. How she did it is a valuable lesson for anyone trying to take on powerful institutions and struggling to make their voice heard.

UNDERSTANDING THE DALAI LAMA’S RETIREMENT: The Dalai Lama formally gave up his role as the political head of the Tibetan government-in-exile. There’s a new prime minister and several other changes to Tibet’s Constitution. We’ll find out what it all means with Tibet political expert Robbie Barnett.
