Penny Mill and Empowerment Event and Unity In the Community are both back this summer bringing fun and community building to the East side. Host Trishelle King talks with Melvin Merritt of Penny Mill and Brandon Elliington of Voices of The People about their upcoming events.

Penny Mill’s Event- “Community Empowerment Event” August 17 2013, 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m, Blue Valley Park – 23rd & Topping, KCMO A Day full of fun, food entertaiment and community resources. Performers – The K.C Marching Cobras, Mr. John Anderson (the man that can change into many characters), The Kansas City Boys Choir, Mr. Rex Purefoy & his Trick Horse, Church Choirs, Down to earth Riders and Hilltop Saddle Club.

The purpose of the Community Resource Awareness Fair is to link persons in need of assistance with organizations which may be of help to them in a casual and less threatening environment. In order to accomplish this goal, we plan to work with entities such as the Police Department; the State Mental Health Services Department; Kansas City Free Health and the neighborhood associations, as well as many other agencies. Penny Mill can be an instrument to change a street, change a block and ultimately change an entire community. More at http://www.pennymillinc.org/default.html or phone 816-204-0428.
