Tasty Brew Spotlight on Lake Street Dive and Dave Alvin

Lake Street Dive is an indie jazz and soul band that was founded in 2004 in Boston, Massachusetts. The band consists of Rachael Price (lead vocals), Mike “McDuck” Olson (trumpet, guitar), Bridget Kearney (upright bass), and Mike Calabrese (drums). They met while attending the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. The band was named after a street with many dive bars in Olson’s hometown of Minneapolis.  Lake Street Dive is a 2014 Americana Music Association Emerging Artist Nominee.

Dave Alvin is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, music producer and poet. He is a former and founding member of the roots rock band The Blasters. Alvin has recorded and performed as a solo artist since the late 1980s, but has recently reunited with and is touring with brother Phil Alvin in support of their Common Ground CD in tribute to Big Bill Broonzy.  Dave and Phil have an upcoming show at Knuckleheads this week, August 8.
