“The Tasty Brew” is an eclectic mix of roots music formed by the shared and varied traditions that make up the American musical melting pot.
Don Simon, managing partner of MudStomp Records, will be visiting Diana Linn on her Tasty Brew Music Radio Show this Tuesday morning on KKFI 90.1 FM. He’ll be talking about The MudStomp Records Room at FAI 2016 and playing a few tracks from some of the artists featured in the label’s private showcase. This Tuesday’s feature artists will be Walt Wilkins and Bill Small of The Mystiqueros, including some never before heard audio from Walt and Bill’s 2014 show in Carl Butler’s Gospel Lounge. San Antonio-born Walt Wilkins has been called a genius, more than once, and a writer the caliber of John Steinbeck and his voice as comfortable as a pair of old blue jeans, and he is, and has, all of that. His crafting of story-songs, hard-edged vocals to sing them and a plaintive guitar have made him a fixture of the Texas music scene (and Nashville before that). He’s put his magical touch on recordings by new and veteran artists, too many to count.
