That Was the Week That Was – Say Howdy to Courtney Patton

Diana Linn had a full week of attending live music performances last week and Tasty Brew listeners will be the beneficiaries on this week’s Tuesday Morning Buzz.  Tune in to hear new discoveries Courtney Patton of Fort Worth, TX and Joe Mack of Tallequah, OK.  From Courtney’s camp…”Courtney Patton has flown a little under the radar in recent years, far from a household name but a welcome discovery for listeners who’ve found their way to her sweet, soulful, and subtle approach to classic country music. Her expansive voice, laced with deep Texas twang but bearing the influence of favorite songwriters from the ‘70s folk-rock scene all the way through the present day, gives new life to old themes of finding love and freedom where you can and trying to hold yourself together when it slips away.”

The International Bluegrass Music Association’s 2013 “Best of” nominees came out last week and the Walnut Valley Music Festival, also known as “Winfield” is right around the corner so the playlist will include a fair amount of bluegrass from the likes of Nashville’s Della Mae, Missy Raines and the New Hip and Kansas City’s own Betse Ellis.  Oh, and a little thing called the Americana Music Association Festival and Conference is coming up in September so it’s time to pull out some Shovels and Rope.  More from other AMA artists in the weeks to come on The Tasty Brew. Do yourself a favor, follow the imbedded links and as always, ENJOY!
