The 5th Annual Fair Housing / Civil Rights Summit in KCMO

Host Trichelle King will talk with Paul Pierce, Civil Rights Investigator, of the KCMO Civil Rights Division of the Human Relations Department about the 5th Annual Fair Housing/Civil Rights Summit. This years summit is titled The Quest For Civil Rights, Have We Achieved The Dream? and will be held FRIDAY, APRIL 26, 2012, 9:00AM – 2:30PM, at the SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY CENTER, 4201 E. 63RD ST., KCMO 64130.

Featured speakers will be Marc Lamont Hill, Social Critic, Author and Political Commentator as well as James Perry, Executive Director of the Greater New Orleans Fair Housing Action Center. The Summit will also include a panel discussion and workshops, the Summit is free and open to the public and includes the luncheon.

24th District State Representative Judy Morgan is hosting a town hall meeting, Thursday April 4th from 6:30 to 8 PM in Conover Hall at All Soul Unitarian Universalist Church, 4501 Walnut, KCMO. Judy will have information about Medicare expansion in Missouri. Refreshments will be served.

The Kansas City Chapter of the Missouri Association for Social Welfare will have their first Friday gathering April 5th 11:30AM to 1PM at Westport Flea Market, 817 Westport Rd, KCMO. The discussion will be about current and critical legislation in the Missouri Legislature. The Guests are Senate Minority Leader Jolie Justus, Joanna Sebelien of Harvesters and Jannette Mott-Oxford, Executive Director of MASW.

The monthly meeting of the Criminal Justice Task Force will be tonight, Monday, April 1st from 6:45 to 8:45PM at the Church of the Good Shepard, 4947 Chouteau Drive, KCMO.
