The Frank Williams Outreach Center – Working On Homelessness In KCK

Recalled as a big man with a big heart, Frank Williams died suddenly in 2001 at the age of 32. Before he died, he made a big impression in the four years he worked as a case manager for the Wyandot Center, the not-for-profit community mental health center that created and will run the new outreach center, which is located at 1201 N. Seventh St. in downtown KCK.

Some of the Services offered include Coffee, Laundry facilities, Shower facilities, Telephone, Computer, Mail delivery, Clothing closet, homeless case management, Learn housing options and Connections to Wyandot Center for mental health services, if needed.

Calendar of Events

The Kansas City Chapter of the Missouri Association for Social Welfare will have their monthly, 1st Friday Forum, May 3rd at the Westport Flea Market from 11:30am to 1pm. This month’s forum will address the impact Sequestration has on housing and homeless resources. Guests will be Evie Craig, Executive Director of Restart and Georgia Walker, Program Specialist, Homeless Services Coalition of Greater Kansas City.

The Kansas City Metropolitan Reentry Coalition Monthly Meeting will be Tuesday April 30th, 3-4 P.M. Pioneer College Auditorium, 2700 E. 18th Street, KCMO 64127. This month’s guest will be Mercedes Mora, Clinical Supervisor of the Outpatient Substance Abuse, Counseling and Treatment Program at The Guadalupe Center. The monthly meeting of the Criminal Justice Task Force will be Monday, May 6th from 6:45 to 8:45PM at the Church of the Good Shepard, 4947 Chouteau Drive, KCMO. They are asking that you bring non perishable food items or canned goods for the Good Shepard Back Pack Program that provides food for needy children to take home with them from school.
