Tom Reiss, author of “The Orientalist” discusses his latest book, “The Black Count,” the story of racial freedom in France during the French Revolution, and Gen. Alexandre Dumas, a Black man who rose to a higher position than Napoleon during the French Revolution. He is interviewed by Richard Wolinsky.

TOM REISS is the author of the celebrated international bestseller The Orientalist. His biographical pieces have appeared The New Yorker, The New York Times and other publications. He lives with his wife and daughters in New York City.
