Too Many Murders, Too Many Funerals – Cory’s Network Needs Help and Wyandotte County Sheriff Don Ash On Juvenile Justice In KCK

Too Many Murders, Too Many Funerals – Cory’s Network Needs Help

Without an advocate, families are left to find resources on their own. They are alone to talk with police and face the media. Additionally, they must find their own way of paying for funerals. The Mission of Corey’s Network, Inc. is to provide immediate support, advocacy and services to surviving victims of homicide in the Kansas City metropolitan area precincts without advocates. These services can be immediate such as: candle vigils; help with financing of funerals by accessing funds through grants, donations, and fundraisers, and connecting with companies in partnership with Corey’s Network, Inc.; media intervention; information regarding counseling, medical and other social services as needed for the families; providing meals for grieving families; or life insurance filing, and connection to Crime Victims Compensation. Corey’s Network Inc. is the only free-standing advocacy program in the Kansas City metropolitan area. By this, we mean we are not connected to any Police Department, County, or State. We will respond to any area on either side of the state line. Our services are professional. Our advocates and volunteers are trained. Our phones are answered 24 hours a day.

Host Melvin Merritt talks with Michelle (Shelly) Metje and Robert (Bob) Norris about Corey’s Network, Shelly’s son Cory who’s unsolved murder started them down this path of advocacy and the present need for donations and volunteers.
