with Calvin Arsenia + The Jellyman’s Daughter + John Craigie

Wednesday MidDay Medley plays music from the 29th Annual Folk Alliance International Conference, in Kansas City at the Westin Crown Center. More information at www.folk.org. We’ll play new music from: Ani DiFranco, Carrie Elkin, Élage Diouf, Heather Mae, Robyn Hitchcock, Calvin Arsenia, The Jellyman’s Daughter, John Craigie, and more.

We’ll also play a song from, Nick Carswell & Katlyn Conroy who play the 10th Anniversary of the Kansas City Love Hangover 2017, Wednesday, February 15, at 6:00 pm, at Holy Cow Market and Music, with Venus Van Horn & Troy Van Horn, Foxlin, and Under The Big Oak Tree.

At 10:15 Mark welcomes Calvin Arsenia to share music from his debut full-length album, Catastrophe, to be released on February 14. Calvin Arsenia has released five EPs, and has played Folk Alliance International for the last two years, the Kansas City Fringe Fest, The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, Quixotic, The Kansas City Public Library, and The Kauffman Center For The Performing Arts. Arsenia’s commanding and poetic vocals fly, while he plays harp, piano, banjo, and guitar. Calvin Arsenia plays an Official Showcase at this year’s Folk Alliance International Conference, Wed, Feb 15, at 9:00 pm, at Westin Crown Center in Benton’s 20th Floor. Also joining Calvin are his friends, The Jellyman’s Daughter, a duo from Edinburgh, Scotland, with Graham Coe on cello & vocals, and Emily Kelly on vocals, mandolin, & guitar join us to play LIVE in our 90.1 FM Studios. The duo released their debut full length on September 24, 2014. The Jellyman’s Daughter are in Kansas City to play an Official Showcase at this year’s Folk Alliance International Conference, Thursday, February 16, at 8:30 pm, at Westin Crown Center in the Brookside Room. At 11:15, Mark talks with Portland, Oregon based singer/songwriter, John Craigie, who is in the middle of his 20-City Winter Tour. We’ll hear music from John Craigie’s new album, No Rain, No Rose, released January 27, 2017.
