At 10:30, IVØRY BLACK joins us to play live in our 90.1 FM Studios. IVØRY BLACK plays Middle of The Map Fest, Friday, May 5, at 9:45 PM, at The Westport Saloon. Born in 1986 in Peoria Illinois, and given up for adoption at the age of four, it was difficult to find trust in people after living with eight different foster families. Running away at 15, IVØRY moved from Indiana to Oklahoma and eventually ended up in Seattle. In 2011 IVØRY moved to Kansas City, and has became a part of new family. On June 23, 2015, Ivory released the debut EP, “Ready Get Set,” and is now finishing up work on a debut full-length album, to be released this Summer. Along with Middle of The Map, IVØRY BLACK is will play The Westport Roots Festival on May 27; Kansas City Public Library – Plaza Branch on June 10, for the KCPT screening of a documentary “Real Boy” about a young man’s transition from female to male; and the LIKEME LikeHouse – Teen Prom on May 12. At 11:15, Mark welcomes professional actor, singer, super-hero, Spencer Brown, who has appeared on stage at The Unicorn Theatre, Late Night Theatre, The KC Fringe, Union Station, The Folly Theatre, Off Center Theatre, Broadway Jazz Club, and for over 10 years has also performed as Daisy Buckët, voted Kansas City’s Best Drag Performer by the Pitch Kansas City. For the past nine years Spencer Brown has also toured internationally and recorded several albums with The Kinsey Sicks, “America’s Favorite Dragapella Beautyshop Quartet” where Spencer plays Trampolina. The Kinsey Sicks will be returning to KC to perform the U.S. premiere of their new show, “Things You Shouldn’t Say,” Friday, April 28, at 8:00 PM, at The Arts Asylum, 1000 E. 9th Street, in KC’s Crossroads Arts District.
