At 10:30 KC based musician & composer Johnny Hamil joins us to share music from his ongoing GAV7D project, an off-shoot of Johnny’s musical work with Mr. Marco’s V7. Bandmates, Marco Pascolini & Chad Meise join Johnny to discuss the whole Mr. Marcos V7 spectrum and how all these new and different GAV7D recordings fit together. Johnny also shares information about upcoming GAV7D and Mr. Marco’s V7 shows: Tuesday, May 9, The GAV7D Project with Kyle Dahlquist, Jeff Freling, Kent Burnham, & Christine Brebes on violin, will play The Ship. Saturday, May 13, The GAV7D Project with Mark Southerland, Kyle Dahlquist, Amado Espinosa, Charles Simms, & Christine Brebes on violin, will play recordBar, 1520 Grand Avenue, with Hi-Lux, and Gramps The Vamp. Sunday, May 21, The GAV7D Project plays their “punkfunkpolka” version of songs at The Dubliner. Saturday, August 26, The original Mr. Marco’s V7 quartet will return to Davey’s Uptown Ramblers Club, for a special live show. Also, TBA Mr. Marco’s V7 will also be re-releasing their out-of-print first album, and performing it live at The Cowtown Ballroom along with the premiere of new works by Mr. Marco’s V7.

At 11:00 AM, Mikal Shapiro joins us as “Special Guest DJ“. Mikal will play music she loved growing up in the 1980’s and 1990’s: New Wave, Grunge, and musical recordings she would steal from her sister’s record collection from, The Cure, Suzanne Vega, and Shriekback. Mikal Shapiro, is a KC based singer / songwriter & filmmaker. She studied Film History, Film, & Writing at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, and received her MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago studying Film, Video, New Media, & Animation. Mikal is the creator of the web television project, “Go! Go! Global Girls.” She has also created music videos for herself, Dead Voices and Folkicide. Mikal performs with Chad Brothers as, The Shapiro Brothers, and she is a member of the 6-piece latin based band, Ayllu. Mikal Shapiro’s full length solo releases include: ”The Crow The Lark And The Loon,” (2008), “For Good,” (2010), and “The Musical,” (2015). Mikal Shapiro is producer & co-host of River Trade Radio, with Kasey Rausch, airing Sundays, at 9:00 AM, on 90.1 FM KKFI. Mikal Shapiro will play Prospero’s Books, 1800 West 39th Street, Monday, May 15, at 7:00 PM with Richard Alwyn Fisher, Kasey Rausch, Tony Ladesich, & Scott Easterday.
