At 10:30 we’ll talk with artist, designer, entrepreneur, single mom, Wendy J. Scott, who joins us to talk about her theatrical scenic painting and design, and her work as an art and painting teacher. We’ll also talk with Wendy about her self-created company, Kitschup Creations, that produce unique candles, magnets, coasters and more. Wendy will share her story of how she started her own home business, her work at Kansas City Kansas Community College Theatre Department, and her story of parenting a child with autism, as her son is now a 17-year old honors student. At 11:00 singer songwriters, Doby Watson and Margo May join us to play live in our 90.1 FM studios. Doby Watson will be playing a handful of Midwest shows in February to support an upcoming EP, a collaboration with Austin Swearengin and Margo May. The EP, simply titled Swearengin, Watson & May, was recorded by Cory Schulz in his living room in Milwaukee, WI while the three songwriters had some time off during a recent tour. It will be available in February from Double Shift Music. Doby Watson will play shows in Lawrence, at The Raven Bookstore, on February 16, and Kansas City at Davey’s Uptown, on February 17. And at 11:30 we’ll talk with members of the Lawrence, Kansas based, “experimental groove-pop” band, Pink Royal. Lead singer Dylan James Guthrie, guitarist Josh Dorrell, and drummer Alex Hartmann join us in our 90.1 FM Studios. (The band also includes founding member: Steven LaCour on guitar, Nick Carswell on bass, and Zak Pischnotte on saxophone.) Pink Royal released their debut album, Taps, in April 1015, and it was in the Top Ten of Wednesday MidDay Medley’s “The 115 Best Recordings of 2015.” Pink Royal play The Riot Room, Friday, January 29, with Jessica Paige, Dream Girl, and Via Luna.
