More New & MidCoastal Releases + Shortsweather + Mr. Marco’s V7 + Schwervon!
Mark plays more New & MidCoastal releases from: The Slowdown, Krystle Warren, Schwervon!, Eems, Mr. Marco’s V7, Shortsweather, Broken Social Scene, Car Seat Headrest, and Benjamin Gibbard.
At 10:30 members of the band Shortsweather join us live in our 90.1 FM Studios. This KC based, “Synthgaze – Dreampop” band was formed in 2015 by Patrick Keizer on vocals and keyboards, Josiah Hunter on on guitar, Davy Langerak on bass, and Bennett Jones on drums. Shortsweather play The Riot Room, August 30, with Drugs & Attics, Dreamgirl. Altitude, DJ Bobby Bohn, and Bleached. Shortsweather also play the 90.1 FM Crossroads Music Fest, Saturday, September 9. At 11:00 Mark talks with Johnny Hamil and members of Mr. Marco’s V7 original lineup that will reunite for this special “Cocktail Hour” performance on Saturday, August 26, 7:00 PM at Davey’s Uptown Rambler’s Club, 3402 Main St, KCMO, where the band first performed live in the early 90s. Marco Pascolini, Johnny Hamil, Chris Fugitt, and Clark Wyatt formed the original band. We will be playing material from this era of the band and from their debut album, The Cowtown Ballroom Sessions (currently out of print). For the band’s upcoming show at Davey’s Uptown, Mark Southerland will join the band as a special guest, just as he did on the album before he officially joined the band. Chad Meise will be running the sound and spinning some extra nice tiki lounge tracks when the band isn’t performing.
At 11:30 Matthew Roth and Nan Turner of the band, Schwervon! join us to on the show to share brand new music from their upcoming 7” single release. Nan plays drums and Matt plays guitar and they both sing. They lived in NYC for 15 years before moving to KC. Matt also performs and records as Major Matt Mason USA. Nan also performs and records as Nan and The One Nite Stands. Schwervon! are getting ready for their European tour. Schwervon! play a Tour Kick Off Show at Californos in Westport August 26, with Abandoned Bells, and Folkicide Duo.
