At 10:30 Mark talks with the band The Matchsellers who will play live in our 90.1 FM Studios. Classically trained violinist Julie Bates from Kansas City, and Chicago blues guitarist from Warsaw, Indiana, Andrew Morris met in Leipzig, Germany. During their year of living in the former East Germany, they began reanalyzing the songs of their homeland, and developed a tight yet gritty bluegrass style. In the summer of 2013 they left their jobs to hit the road. They’ve toured Germany, the UK, the Czech Republic, and 21 United States, averaging 170 shows a year. Their full-length debut release: Kosciusko County is named after a county in Indiana where John Morris is from. The Matchsellers will play Kansas City Fringe Festival, Thursday, July 23 at 7:00 pm, at Uptown Arts Bar, 3611 Broadway. More info at http://thematchsellers.com or www.kcfringe.org
At 11:00 Brenton Cook of Haymaker Records, joins us as our special guest to share music and information about the Haymaker Records Summer Showcase Party! July 24, at recordBar, featuring five musical acts from the Haymaker Records roster, and a preview of three full-length vinyl albums to be released by the label over the summer and fall.. We’ll play music from bands participating in the showcase: Schwervon!, HMPH!, Riala, Be/Non, and Jorge Arana Trio.
Brenton will then be joined by Dedric Moore and will share music and information about KC Psych Fest, kicking off its fourth year with a night of adventurous music on Saturday, August 1, at The Riot Room in Kansas City, MO. Co-sponsored by Haymaker Records, Mills Record Company, It’s a Beautiful Day, and Summer Moon Promotions, the show will feature performances by Ancient River, Mysterious Clouds, HMPH!, Psychotic Reaction, Drugs & Attics, and have a special DJ set by Mod Professor.
