On the 80th anniversary of the bombing of Guernica by Spanish fascists, Bernadette Devlin McAliskey told an audience in Dublin that they are facing a rise in fascism worldwide and they need to know what it really is.
The young Bernadette Devlin (married name McAliskey) was once jailed for incitement to riot, co-founded the Irish Republican Socialist Party, was elected to the British Parliament from Northern Ireland at age 21, has spent her life struggling for democracy and minority rights, and although raised Catholic is a strong supporter of abortion rights.
