Women’s Work, Part 1

This is the first of two half-hours of an extensive interview with Professor Karen Messing about how gendered the most common professions are, what generally-ignored factors cause physical and mental health problems for women at work in various professions, and what can and cannot be changed about this in the contemporary milieu. She makes the point that Europeans, especially the French, and Francophone Canada, have done more with these problems than have the Americans and Anglophone Canadians.

Dr. Messing is a professor of biological sciences at the University of Quebec in Montreal. She researches occupational health, gender and ergonomics.
