Zimbabwe Election

Robert Mugabe, the only President Zimbabwe has had since independence, will be 94 before the 2018 elections. His party is divided, but the opposition is more so, with more than 50 parties registered – almost half of them since the start of 2017. Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga suggests the men are spending too much time arguing about who will lead while women are now establishing connections on the ground, registering voters, and asking how they can serve their community.

Misihairabwi-Mushonga is an opposition member of Zimbabwe’s Parliament. She was a negotiator in the creation of the former Government of National Unity (2008-13) and is an organizer with the new multiparty Women’s Elections Convergence.
