Groovy Grant studied music saxophone and string bass for six months at University of Missouri-Kansas City and took advantage of an opportunity in the KPRS School of Broadcasting in 1972 with a grant made possible by Sam Cornelius of Human Resources of Kansas City. He is a long-time KKFI DJ and volunteer.
